Study Questions

Psalm:

"1 O Lord, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high;I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me.2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me.

3 O Israel, hope in the Lord from this time forth and forevermore." - Ps. 131

Proverb:

"Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues with injustice."- Pr. 16:8

Prayer:

"God, you are vitally active and most incarnate, and are not remote from me. At every moment, you await me in the activity, the work to be done, which every moment brings. You are, at the point of my pen, my pick, my paintbrush, my needle- and my heart and my thought. It is by carrying to its natural completion the stroke, the line, the stitch I am working on, that I shall lay hold on the ultimate end toward which my will at its deepest levels ends. Oh God, let me abide with you, as you already abide with me."- Teilhard de Chardin

"God, in every moment- you are enough."

Practice:

Gluttony is an extravagantly fed appetite. Where in your life do you lack self-control? What does this reveal about your relationship with Jesus? How can the Holy Spirit help you restrain or moderate your out of bounds appetites? This week prayerfully express your gratitude to God. Look to the giver of good gifts and not to the surplus of each good gift. Practiced giving away your excess.
