Study Questions

  1. Share the story of a book or movie character whose pride was his or her downfall.
  2. Read James 4:1-12. What did you learn about God? About yourself?
  3. What was an important part of the sermon to you this week?
  4. From this passage, what are some of the attitudes and actions motivated by Satan? What are the effects of these attitudes and actions on ourselves, others, and our relationships?
  5. What are the root causes of quarrels and fights among believers according to verses 1-3? How does this internal battle of "passions" lead to external conflict? 
  6. What does it mean to be a "friend of the world," and why is this considered "hostility with God"? How do we break our friendship with the world?
  7. Write out a couple prayer points based on this passage and pray them in your group prayer time.
