1. When you play a board game, are you a strict rule follower or more casual with the rules?

2. How were you challenged, convicted, or encouraged by this week’s message on righteousness?

3. Read Matthew 5:17-20. What words or synonyms are repeated in this passage? What is Jesus contrasting? What is the “therefore” there for?

4. What is Jesus’ relationship with scripture? What do you think is God’s purpose in giving us his law and calling us to obey?

5. Read Luke 18:9-14 and Matthew 23:27-28. What were the Pharisees getting wrong in their religious efforts? How did Jesus respond?

6. How does this teaching of Jesus change the way you think about your own righteousness?

7. Pick out one of the twenty-two 8-verse sections of Psalm 119 to read to your group. Explain why you chose it.
