Study Questions

  1. In your home, what happened when you did something wrong? Share a time you made excuses to escape your parent’s wrath? How is God’s wrath different from human wrath?
  2. Read Romans 1:18-32. What qualities of God do you see here? How are godless people (as we all once were) described? To what does God give them over?
  3. ŽRead Colossians 3:1-10. What are these believers struggling with? What advice is given? How does verse 6 provide motivation? Why might we want to contemplate God’s coming wrath?
  4. Read 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10. What changes have the Thessalonians made in this passage? Why are they so focused on Jesus? 
  5. Read Hebrews 12:18-29. The author mentions two mounts. What is the author comparing? What do you learn from the way this passage concludes in verses 28-29? How does seeing God as a consuming fire impact our worship?
  6. How is God’s love linked to His wrath? Why is the bad news of God’s wrath important as we share the good news of the gospel? Why should we be thankful or worship God for His wrath?
