Making a Difference at LMCV

"Be generous and full of grace!" Those were a few words from a recent Sunday morning message, and that is exactly what our Lakeside family has shown to the residents at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. After letting you know of our annual Christmas Funds Project you generously gave just over one thousand dollars. This money will be used to purchase of Christmas presents for our nursing home residents and rehab patients. The Auxiliary gives a huge THANK YOU!

From that same sermon, Jon used the terms “Time, Talents, & Treasures”, and “Hands Heart, & Head.”  All of these generosity traits can be invested at Lewis as part of Lakeside’s partnership with LMCV. Yes, we collect funds for the Christmas Project in November and again in the spring for Auxiliary Dues (which we use to supplement nursing home departments with special purchases that directly benefit the residents). But those are only two of the ways we try to honor our Lewis residents.

Teams of Lakeside volunteers regularly serve the residents on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th Mondays each month from 9:00 am -12:00 pm. These teams fill and deliver water pitchers to resident rooms, roll silverware, set tables and fold laundry. This provides opportunity to interact with residents, offering a smile and a friendly greeting. We also have occasional service opportunities that impact our residents. Lakeside provides birthday cakes in July, donated supplies for the free resident shopping cart, and cookies for the resident Christmas parties. In fact, just this week volunteers were dropping off home-baked cookies.

If you would like to help with our ministry to Lewis residents in anyway, please call the church office at 529-2513 and we’ll put you in touch with our ministry leaders, Gen Segretto and Carol Smith. Maybe you would like to visit, read a book, or play an instrument? Be creative with your service idea. Join us in service to our residents. You will be a blessing, and you will receive a greater blessing in return.
